American High  premiered on Fox on August 2, 2000. To tell the story of what it's like to be coming of age today in America, two camera crews followed 12 students at Highland Park High School located just outside of Chicago. The students were also given cameras and kept "video diaries" of their lives. Fox cancelled the series after airing only 4 episodes and it was picked up by PBS, where it began airing in spring 2001.
