Carnivale premiered on HBO on April 28, 2007, 2003. The series takes place mainly in a 1930's carnival atmosphere where some of the "freak show" participants have special abilities. At the same time in a small town in California named Mintern, where the villain Brother Justin Crowe resides. The show will follow the two stories for quite a while, although really don't cross over for a while, even though they're thematically related and related in story.
