Gundam Wing premiered in the U.S. on the Cartoon Network on March 6, 2000, after running in Japan from 1995-1997 as Shin Kidô Senki Gundam W. The show is set in a time known as A.C., or After Colony, when some humans lived peacefully upon space colonies while those on Earth were at constant war. After the wars ended the Earth government set up the Earth Sphere Unified Alliance, an organization to keep peace on Earth and the space colonies. However, the Alliance was only a front for The Romefeller Foundation. The Alliance's Army took control of the space colonies by using their fighting machines - their MS, or Mobile Suits. Eventually a group of rebels from the space colonies decided to fight back. The five scientists created the MS helped the rebels devise five super MS, known as Gundams. Because they are so unique and difficult to operate, five children were trained from a very young age to control them.
