Season Premiere Host Billy Ray Cyrus documents the long road to Nashville beginning with the audition process in which phonemes and follies all vie for the chance to be America's next music superstar. This year the competition opens the doors to not only solo artist, but also duos and trios. At the end of the episode, the top 12 finalists will be narrowed down to 10 after the judges eliminate 2.
Episode 2 The three judges coach various members of the cast to see who is the better star maker and Trace Adkins sings with the contestants of Nashville Star.
Episode 3 The 10 remaining acts are whittled down by one.
Episode 4 The nine remaining acts perform, and one is eliminated.
Episode 5 The eight remaining acts perform, and one is eliminated.
Episode 6 The final four are revealed after two acts are eliminated.
Episode 7 The five remaining acts perform original tunes.
Episode 8 The final four perform, then the field is whittled down to three.
Episode 9 Season 6 ends with a viewer vote determining the winning country musician from the three finalists.
