We have been playing the Pokémon TCG for several years. We each have several decks and participate in the Pokémon League at our local Pokémon store, where I am a certified coach. We are going to show you many helpful hints and ideas about how to play this game. Some techniques about how to play wisely are included, along with good deck building skills. Of course, you can view the cards on other pages too. We don't have enough time to teach you everything, but we will tell you the basics...
Kyra's Decks Here are some decks I created. I play them in various situations. I hope they will be of some help to you when you create your own.
Electric Gym Deck My deck is called Electric Gym. When you hear that name, you think of fighting and lightning Pokémon. But thats the trick. I do use lightning energy, but only 2 lightning Pokémon. So my fighting and colorless Pokémon are pumped with electricity. When playing my deck I like to get a Chansey out in the arena ASAP. Even without energy cards, it makes a great wall. While I use a weak or strong card for a wall I try to build up to a Machamp, Rydon, or Kangaskhan. Once I get the power cards out it all goes fast. I have to watch out for grass Pokémon because I have many weaknesses to them. I have a computer search for the times I really need an energy or power card. Here is what my deck contains:
1 Persian
2 Pidgey
1 Pigeotto
1 Kangaskhan
1 Tauros
1 Chansey
2 Dodou
1 Dodrio
2 Spearow
1 Fearow
1 Professor Oak
1 Bill
1 Gust Of Wind
1 Computer Search
1 Potion
1 Energy Removal
Psychic Tidal Wave Deck This is my favorite one that I made up. I've never used it in battle though. It's called Psychic Tidal Wave. It is full of psychic and and water Pokémon. When using this deck, I like to build up my Squirtle into a Blastoise and my Abra to an Alakazam. I also have a Polywhirl in there. What I like to do with this one is put the Pokémon to sleep or paralyze them and let them build up energy cards on their Pokémon, so I can bring out my Mewtwo, or build up energy cards on my Polywhirl. I have 3 potions so I can keep my power cards in as long as posible. Here is what this deck contains:
13 Psychic Energy
11 Water Energy
2 Double Colorless Energy
3 Abra
2 Kadabra
1 Alakazam
1 Mewtwo
2 Ghastly
1 Haunter
3 Squirtle
2 Wartortle
1 Blastoise
2 Seel
1 Dewgong
1 Porygon
2 Jynx
2 Polywag
2 Polywhirl
3 Potion
1 Pokémon Breeder
1 Full Heal

Less Of The Color Deck Here is another one I created. It's called the Less Of The Color. It is an all colorless deck, except for a few energy cards. The cool thing about this deck is that you never have to worry about getting the right energy. The bad thing is that no one has a weakness to you. The point of this deck is you will always be ready for battle if you have energy. Here is what it contains:
4 Double Colorless Energy
24 Any Type Energy
1 Chansey
2 Clefairy
2 Dratini
1 Dragonair
3 Pidgey
2 Pidgeotto
1 Pidgeot
3 Farfetch'd
2 Porygon
2 Dodou

1 Ratatta
1 Pokémon Trader
2 Energy Retrieval
2 Full Heal
2 Plus Power
1 Revive
2 Potion

Rainbow Tidal Wave Deck Zac's deck is called Rainbow Tidal Wave. He likes to keep 4 Evees in his deck so he can bring out his Vaporeon and build it up. He has two Ratattas so he can pull out his Raticate and use Superfang. His deck contains all of the colors of the rainbow, so he has a big variety and doesn't have to worry about many weaknesses. He likes to use his Bill and Energy Removal, but has very few trainers. Here is what his deck contains:
10 Water Energy
4 Lightning Energy
4 Psychic Energy
4 Fighting Energy
4 Fire Energy
