Season 1 Synopsis

Pilot
Fifteen years after baby Kal-El comes to Earth in a spaceship, he is known as Clark Kent, unaware of his true origins and struggling with his differences from other people. But the nearby town where his ship landed, Smallville, and the lives of its residents, have been altered by the meteor storm that accompanied his arrival.

Metamorphosis
A nerdish bug collector who has a crush on Lana, and may have more in common with the bugs he collects than one would expect.

Hothead
The coach of the Smallville High football team has the power to control fire which may be derived from the green rocks in his sauna.

X-Ray
Clark starts having visual problems. A reporter from Metroplis visits to expose Lex's true nature. Lex is accused of robbing the Smallville bank and Clark notices that the skeletal structure of Lex is wrong. The Kryptonite monster of the week is a girl with the ability to morph into anyone she wants to.

Cool
About 17-year-old Todd Kelvin, a Smallville High student who seems to need to absorb heat to keep himself from freezing. Todd takes an interest in Chloe to get what he needs.

Hourglass
A woman named Cassandra loses her sight during a meteor shower, which allows her to see into the future. Among the things she can see are the graves of Clark's family and friends, which makes him fear that he will outlive everyone for whom he cares.

Craving
When a teenager named Jodi goes on a crash diet and eats only vegetables, she loses all her body fat and begins to crave the body fat of other people because the vegetables had contained kryptonite.

Jitters
A family friend visits the Kents. He has a strange affliction that he believes he contracted from his job at LuthorCorp in Metropolis and wants to search "Level 3" of the plant in Smallville to find a cure.

Rogue
A crooked policeman witnesses Clark stopping an out of control bus and forces him to do illegal things or risk having his identity exposed.

Shimmer
A teen whose family lives and works in the Luthor mansion has a crush on Lex, and her jealousy of the tycoon's new girlfriend brings forth vandalism by an invisible perpetrator. Meanwhile, Clark volunteers to work with Lana on a school blood drive after she and Whitney have a fight.

Hug
Two traveling salesmen were in Smallville at the time of the meteor incident. In the years since, there lives have taken some dramatic turns, and not all of them good.

Leech
Both Clark and a classmate named Eric are struck by lightning. The strike seems to take Clark's powers away and instead transfer them over to Eric. Eric's reaction to the powers and the way he and his family handles it is very different from how the Kents do things.

Kinetic
Chloe gets hurt during a robbery at Lex's house, but Lex tries to cover it up because the thieves stole a computer disk with evidence that he broke into his father's computer network.

Zero
Lex and Amanda went to Club Zero three years ago. Amanda's boyfriend Jude finds them and tries to stab Lex, but Lex's bodyguard shoots him. Now Jude is out to get Lex and do whatever he can to ruin him.

Nicodemas
A flower arrives from a newly reopened section of the fertilizer plant produces strange reactions from people.

Stray
Clark befriends a kindred spirit when his family aids a secretive teen who can read minds.

Reaper
Someone has the power to give and take life, and Lionel Luthor sends one of his lackeys in to check on Lex.

Drone
Clark gets into a class election with an opponent who has the ability to control bees, while a reporter from Metropolis visits to do a story on Lex.

Crush
A woman returns from Lex's past with a secret, and the former cartoonist for the Smallville Torch returns with a secret of his own.

Obscura
Lex and Roger contact a man who was a cropduster back in the day. He was working during the meteor shower and apparently he saw some sort of craft crashing down.

Tempest
As a massive tornado rumbles towards an unsuspecting Smallville, Clark (Tom Welling) is on the verge of discovering the first connection to where he came from when the missing piece of the spaceship is found and breathes life into the fallen craft. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is hit with a one-two punch after his father (guest star John Glover, "Batman & Robin") closes the plant and orders him back to Metropolis and the shifty reporter he hired to spy on the Kents discovers Clark's superhuman abilities and the spaceship hidden in the storm cellar. Rock band Remy Zero performs the "Smallville" theme song, their hit single "Save Me," in the episode at the high school formal.
